PRINCE2® Refresh Project Team Appointed

This communication from TSO is to inform you of the members of the PRINCE2® Refresh Project Team, the progress made so far with the project and the developments over the next few months.

Reference Group:

This group is appointed by OGC and gives OGC a clear strategic steer on the direction we should take in making changes to guidance. Membership of the PRINCE2® Refresh Reference Group will be released to the public at the end of June.

Scoping and Review Group

This group works at a much-detailed level than the Reference Group. They have a key role in the validation of the project scope and in they carry out detailed quality review throughout the various stages up to production.

Members are appointed and will be confirmed by TSO at the end of June 2007.

The developments so far:

During November 2006 to April 2007 a public consultation was carried out to find out what key stakeholders and the PRINCE2® community thought about PRINCE2® and the direction it should take in the future. The issue log was closed for inclusion in the project at the end of March and a Change Control Panel was appointed to look at all the issues and put forward recommended issues with priority rating.

A report on this consultation has been written and can be downloaded here.

In the same time period an advert was released calling for authors for the Refresh Project. On the 4th May the lead author, Andy Murray of Outperform UK Ltd was appointed. The rest of the authoring team will be appointed in June, submissions are now closed.

Key milestones in the project.

11th June - Reference Group Meeting. Membership from OGC invite only. At this meeting the drivers for change will be established in the form of a mandate.
27th June - Call for public reviewers and release of public consultation report. Work for reviewers is not expected to commence until Early Winter 2007 and will be ongoing through 2008. Further information will be available from the 27th June.
30th June - The mandate released to the public.
6th July - Review Group meeting. Membership from TSO invite only. At this meeting the mandate will be broken down and interpreted into a work package for the authoring team.
31st August - release of Public Scoping Document. This document will give the public an overview of the forthcoming changes to PRINCE2.

A further update will be given in September once the scope has been established. But we are not expecting the new edition of PRINCE2® to be available until the end of 2008.
